Dental Examinations

We suggest that all our new patients begin with a comprehensive dental examination.

This detailed oral health assessment encompasses various aspects of your mouth, teeth, and gums. This examination is a foundation for personalized treatment plans tailored to your specific needs. During your initial dental exam, we will evaluate several key aspects of your oral health, including:

1. Dental History Review: We'll begin by discussing your dental and medical history, including any concerns or issues you may have regarding your oral health.

2. Visual Inspection: Our dentists will visually examine your mouth, teeth, and gums, checking for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, oral lesions, or other abnormalities.

3. Digital X-rays: We may take digital X-rays to obtain detailed images of your teeth, jawbone, and surrounding structures. These images help us detect issues that may not be visible to the naked eye, such as hidden cavities or bone loss.

4. Periodontal Assessment:  We'll assess the health of your gums and supporting structures, checking for signs of gum disease, recession, or inflammation.

5. Soft Tissue Examination: Our dentists will examine the soft tissues of your mouth, including the tongue, cheeks, and palate, to identify any abnormalities or signs of oral cancer.

6. TMJ Evaluation: We'll evaluate the function of your temporomandibular joints (TMJ), checking for signs of dysfunction or discomfort that may indicate temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD).

7. Occlusal Analysis: We'll assess the alignment of your bite (occlusion), looking for any issues such as malocclusion or misalignment that may affect your dental health.

Undergoing a comprehensive oral examination offers numerous benefits, including:

  • Early Detection of Dental Issues: By identifying potential problems in their early stages, we can address them promptly, preventing more serious complications later on.

  • Personalized Treatment Planning: The information gathered during your examination allows us to create a customized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.

  • Preventive Care Strategies: We'll provide personalized recommendations for maintaining optimal oral health, including proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care measures.

  • Peace of Mind: A comprehensive oral examination provides reassurance that your oral health is in good hands, giving you peace of mind and confidence in your dental care.
